Costumer Reviews
I have experience in many 3 Channel gyro helicopters, and some 4 and 6 CH as well. This is a good transitional helicopter. It is a lot more complex than your standard 3 Channel, but not as difficult as the larger 4 CH or 6 CH fixed pitch (single rotor). The remote control orientation is different. The left side of the remote controls the throttle and the direction of the helicopter. Generally in a 3 CH, the right side controls the direction.
The right side of the Nano's controls forward/backward movement as well as side to side movement. Be careful when you first fly this as it fly much faster than a regular 3 Channel. The movements are much faster and more sensitive, and need to make small little inputs in the control to fly it. This is considered "hobby" graded, and can be shown by the electrical components. The battery is removable, so might make sense to buy additional batteries so you can fly without an hiatus.
Comes with everything needed to fly, battery charger and AA battery. Although I'd recommend using a higher quality Alkaline. For the price half of the Eflite Blade MCX, this is a great deal, with comparable performance.
I have been looking for something a little more challenging than a Syma S107 and this heli is it.
I thought I could handle it and I went straight to a Walkera CB-100 fixed pitch 4CH. It was far too difficult to transition to from the S107.
This heli fits perfectly between the two, hard enough to be a challenge, easy enough to not constantly destroy in crashes.
It moves rather slowly, which for indoor flight in learning a 4CH setup is ideal. It also does 4CH properly using a swash plate rather than some other "fake" 4CH helis that use side rotors to push the heli left and right. This gives it a lot better flight characteristics, similar to a fixed pitch 4CH.
The carbon fiber flybar it ships with however broke on me as well. I ordered a replacement (from Hong Kong) and it was metal, which so far seems to be a lot more durable.
Still, this is probably too difficult for someone under say 12-14 to fly with any expectation of it lasting more than a few flights.
For approximately $50 you really can't go wrong with this heli.
