Customer Reviews
I've flown some of the smaller coaxial heli's, and they got boring quick. Among limited control and low flight times were the reasons I decided to upgrade. This heli is AWESOME. It is amazing what technology they've fit into this model.
Thoughts -
1. This is indoor only, unless you live someplace where this is no wind at all, and I mean 0MPH. It is only about 1 ounce, and even the slightest wind will make a big difference in flight. While it does have a low/high option, even the high option has a hard time fighting any kind of wind at all.
2. If you're new to flying, go with low mode at least a few times. You'll know when you're ready to move up to the higher mode; it won't take long.
3. Blip the throttle (left stick) to get it off the ground - otherwise it will pull across the floor and undoubtedly crash. Once it gets some height, you have far better control.
4. Give yourself some room. I realize indoors that can be a problem, but perhaps a garage or other larger area to start. Once you get comfortable with the controls, you can easily fly in smaller areas.
5. Until you're comfortable - if you're flying and think you may crash - pull the throttle down. That has saved my butt many times just starting out. This thing is durable, but if the main rotor is spinning, you have a much higher chance of damaging something.
6. I had a problem with the control board - a quick call to support and they had a new one on the way, which I easily replaced myself.
7. Get an extra battery!
8. When the battery gets low, the chopper will let you know... Generally, when I give it full throttle and it barely goes up, it's time to be ready to catch it or land it. You'll also notice limited control of the tail, as that motor loses power pretty quick. Once it reaches a certain level, it shuts off - be prepared.
Awesome heli - great support - good fun - would buy another!
This was my 1st helicopter. I bought 2, 1 for me and 1 as a christmas gift. I have some rc plane ; car experience, after 1 day (about 10 flights) I can move about in my tiny apt w/o crashing. It has hit many objects and the ceiling several times. I did break the landing skid. Parts are cheap and readily available. I decided to get the coaxial version for the gift because the recipient has never done rc before. Recommend finding the Nine Eagles AC battery charger to save on the cost of AA batteries.
